Our Promise

We promise that your landscape will be the first thing you see and the last thing you worry about.

Seasonal Color

We at HighGrove Partners believe in the many benefits of planting seasonal color. As part of our KnowWater program, we are strong proponents of utilizing plant material that adapts well to the natural environment. Some benefits of planting seasonal color include:

•Flowers provide instant curb appeal which attracts attention from prospective tenants / customers.
•Flowers in a landscape improve a property’s appearance almost immediately and can increase a property’s value.
•Flowers can reduce feelings of anxiety and boost energy and enthusiasm in the work place; people who feel good about where they work are more productive and have a better work ethic.
•Flowers brighten a landscape after a long winter and bring in a welcome change of seasons with a splash of color.
•Flowers help to soften harsh building lines.
•Flowers, as well as other plants, have a positive impact on the environment by producing oxygen, filtering the air we breathe and helping to control soil erosion.
Our color program is designed to enhance the viability of our plant material and we also offer several optional services such as soil amendments and various watering methods that will help your plants and curb appeal thrive.
Our Seasonal Color Program includes the following services:
Slow-Release Fertilizer
Slow-release fertilizers are excellent alternatives to soluble and liquid fertilizers. Because the nutrients are released at a slower rate throughout the season, plants are more apt to absorb most of the nutrients without waste by draining away.
  • Nutrients are released slowly over an extended period so fewer applications are needed.
  • Because of the unique method of time released nutrients, the chance for the benefits of the fertilizer to get washed away is reduced.
  • The use of slow-release fertilizer increases the chance of even top growth and healthier roots therefore creating optimal survival results.
Mushroom Compost
Mushroom compost is a viable and useful by-product of mushroom farming and consists of natural organic substances. When mixed with soil before planting, landscapes benefit from these environmental factors:
  • The compost assists in holding water and nutrients in the soil around the roots. The roots can use the water and nutrients as needed instead of allowing the nutrients to drain through the soil.
  • The compost provides aeration and moisture to hard, clay-type soils allowing the soil to break up so that water and nutrients are available.
  • The compost contains millions of beneficial bacteria. These bacteria convert nitrogen and other nutrients into a form that is easily available for the plant. Since the compost is organic and the nutrients are released slowly, the delicate plant roots are not burned.
Mulch
Mulching is one of the most important ways to maintain a healthy landscape. When applied correctly, mulch provides a number of soil benefits which conserving the need of water and excessive fertilizer application.
  • Mulch prevents water evaporation from the soil
  • Mulch keeps the soil cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, thus maintaining a more even soil temperature
  • Mulch provides valuable organic matter for the soil and feeds the soil
  • Mulch reduces weed competition by blocking light and preventing some type weed seeds from germinating
Terra-Sorb (Water-absorbing Crystals)
Terra-Sorb is a super-absorbent, potassium-based compound that absorbs up to 200 times its weight in water. When incorporated into the soil, it slowly releases the water into nearby plant roots. Terra-Sorb will repeatedly absorb and release water for several years. We recommend the use of Terra-Sorb to:
  • Significantly increase water-holding capacity of soil
  • Prevent plant losses due to dry soil
  • Slowly release water into the root zone
Hand-Watering
HighGrove can provide hand-watering from EPD approved alternative sources.
Instant Impact Install (Plant Spacing)
Instant impact provides flower beds that are full at the time of install. Closer spacing of all annuals appears as though the bed is at full capacity immediately. This technique is used in trade shows and at theme parks such as Disney World and Six Flags. Annuals will be planted at half of their contracted / normal spacing to provide solid color in your flower beds at the time of installation. This additional cost for this effect will cover the additional plant material and labor as well as the increase in maintenance it takes to ensure a spectacular full flower bed from install to removal.
