Step out of Atlanta’s hustle and bustle and into Buckhead Atlanta’s high-end shopping experience.
From the mixture of designs, display of flowers you won’t find anywhere else and, of course, impressive shops, this site strives to impress visitors.
Buckhead Atlanta, also called the Shops Buckhead Atlanta, covers 9 acres, which includes 100,000 of office space, 300,000 square feet of retail space and 400,000 of residential.
There are multiple distinctive buildings on this mixed-use development, located at 3035 Peachtree Road NE.
Buckhead Atlanta combines traditional and contemporary architectural elements, along with mature landscaping, says Grant Hancock, client relations manager at HighGrove Partners.
“It is the most high-end retail and restaurant location outside of a mall,” says Jim McCutcheon, CEO of HighGrove Partners. “This is the only location in the Southeast for some of the world’s greatest fashion houses: It’s often referred to as the Rodeo Drive of the South.”
With several attractive shops and eateries, the property management team wanted landscaping and curb appeal that was at that same level. So, they turned to design influences from up north.
“The landscape is very unique to the area and built around concepts developed on Michigan Avenue in Chicago,” McCutcheon says.
This commercial property opened in 2014 and has continued to add stores since then.
When the Buckhead property management team was searching for a commercial landscaping company to maintain the vast property, they wanted to make sure the company would be available daily.
“The top concerns regarding the landscape management were the management being able to offer the everyday needs and expertise on a daily basis,” Hancock says.
To meet the site’s daily needs, the Buckhead Atlanta property manager turned to HighGrove Partners for their experience and services.
HighGrove Partners maintains the landscaping, irrigation, sweeping services, installation of annuals and permanent plantings, tree services and whatever else comes up throughout the year. The annuals are especially eye catching.
“This is the largest display of annuals for a mixed-use development in the Southeast,” Hancock says.
Any working relationship needs to be built off of trust if it’s going to last and be successful. And that’s exactly what the Buckhead Atlanta team looked for with a landscaping partner.“There are a lot of people with a stake in the success of this property including Tommy Medlock at Ornamental Landscape Management.
We have a very strong relationship with all of them,” McCutcheon says. “They have told us we have given them a solid partner they can count on. They talk about our everyday difference in the detail and cleanliness of the property, but they love that they can trust us to handle the big tasks with ease.”
The HighGrove Partners team has two full-time gardeners on the site, in addition to their management and support teams, McCutcheon says. Having the right team and experience is crucial for managing a high-quality property like this one.
“All of the flower installations have to be done between 3 and 9 a.m.,” McCutcheon says. “This process takes a week, and there can never be empty or partially completed beds.”
Each commercial property poses its own set of challenges, whether it be trouble areas or plants that need regular attention. Buckhead Atlanta’s major concern is that it is one of the most important and frequented locations in the area, McCutcheon explains. And it’s definitely come a long way in the past few years.
This property sat empty in the heart of Buckhead for several years during the recession. So when the development restarted, all eyes were on it. And the number of views continues to grow as more people visit the property — making it especially important the landscape maintenance work is handled carefully.
“While there is a lot of work to do there each week, we have to be very stealthy and not in the way of the guests,” McCutcheon says. “Our experience, skills and resources have allowed us to operate within some challenging parameters and then have great success.”
It’s important the landscape plan works around the site’s needs and traffic, not the other way around.
Any property can incorporate high-quality landscape elements with the right commercial partner. So, look for a landscaping company that offers a full list of in-house services that will enhance your site and improve its value.
